Sales Manager – Eastern Region

Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for day-to-day contact and interaction with all ASP customers in the assigned territory. The individual will also solicit customer feedback on company products and programs as well as gather market intelligence. The position will work closely with the Marketing department and other departments such as Manufacturing, Business Development, IT, and Logistics as requested to ensure continual improvement of the customer experience. Builds and manages long term customer relationships / partnerships and ensures customer satisfaction. Position solar service agreements as the foundation of managed account relationships, and maintain the growth of these relationships over time.

Under general direction of VP sales and Marketing develop and sell large, complex, solar service offerings to high-level Regional Wholesale, Distributors, and Utility/Commercial/REIT customers. Assist in solar service sales and marketing strategy development in conjunction with the regional Power Authorities Feed-In Tariff Programs and ASP Services offering.

As the eastern region manager, you will manage several account managers in Eastern region including Tri States, Mid West, Northern and Southern Carolinas, Georgia, and South Eastern States.  As a member of a global sales team you will work with your peers in marketing, customer service, manufacturing, and sales operations to expand and execute ASP’s rapid growth sales strategies.  You will be expected to participate in a variety of training and development projects aimed at expanding ASP’s presence in North American market. Addionally, your job description will include:

  • Actively manage a group of area account managers; providing hands-on sales leadership in the management of sales plans, targets achievement and sales coaching of area account managers.
  • Visit customers, coaching sales account managers on the specifics of selling and closing deals with electrical distribution, light commercial projects and residential systems sold through distributors and installers to end consumers (i.e., multi-channel sales).
  • Improve positioning and strengthen overall relationships with exiting partners and distributors in your region. 
  • Develop and implement innovative sales strategies and processes that drive higher levels of growth through market penetration (grow market share) and channel growth in your region.
  • Track performance of regional sales organization while assisting and holding individual sales personnel accountable for their targets.  Manage performance of sales account managers utilizing ASP’s performance management tools and philosophy and execute quarterly sales plans and payments.
  • Generate and develop leads and qualify prospects, through cold-calling and other lead generation activities for high-profile clients.  While this is a management position, it is a hands-on leadership position that will require relationship development and cultivation with customers in your assigned region.
  • Review, filter and track new sales opportunities in your region.  Ensure effective reporting of sales activities and pipeline opportunities.
  • Participate in developing company strategy, lead development of the sales strategy for your region, and lead implementation and execution of sales strategy.
  • Hire and train additional sales staff as the sales organization grows. 
  • Work with marketing to develop effective product collateral.  Assist with marketing activities and product launches as necessary to support sales in your region.
  • Hit all assigned Key Performance Indicators including revenue goals
  • Increase customer satisfaction through improved communication and turnaround time
  • Ensure all pricing, product and updates are successfully delivered to the customers
  • Continually maintain an accurate forecast and robust pipeline of sales opportunities
  • Update CRM in regard to customer status, contacts, communications etc.
  • Resolve/Direct customer complaints to conclusion
  • Travel frequently to customer’s place of business (overnight travel may be required)
  • Gather and report Market Intelligence
  • Train customers on new products and programs while soliciting and reporting feedback
  • Meet or exceed all measurable sales objectives and quotas
  • Generates new business and ensures growth of existing accounts
  • Continue to enhance selling skills, increase closing rates, and leverage existing client bases  

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business, Marketing, or related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Expertise developing new accounts, strategic alliances and sales channel partners evidenced by at least 8+ years of overall experience in sales, preferably in solar or building industries.
  • Must have at least 2-3 years performing sales leadership roles within semiconductor, solar pv, flat panel display or high tech distribution industries, with responsibility for leading individual sales contributor and/or marketing personnel.  Verifiable and credible references will be required. 
  • Must have prior performance management responsibilities for sales personnel; including sales plan design and execution. 
  • Preference for an experienced manager; able to motivate and retain a skilled and diverse workforce.
  • Track record of successfully achieving sales quotas in growth organizations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of solar project design, quotation, installation, financing and related incentive programs is preferred.
  • Ability to coach sales account managers and close large deals is required, as demonstrated by prior verifiable examples with multi-channel sales (commercial, distributor, integrator, end-customer).
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills are required including demonstrated presentation skills at all levels within the organization.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the full MS Office productivity suite (e.g., Excel, Word, Power Point, and Communicator).  Additional preference for ability to leverage a CRM and/or ERP sales module for sales opportunity reporting and tracking.
  • Ability to build business plans and prioritize sales efforts effectively to achieve business objectives.  Specific preference for candidates that can demonstrate prior experience building a business plan with marketing that has been executed to grow sales in a region, new market, or with a new product launch.
  • Experience successfully working in a decentralized, start-up environment is preferred, but not necessary.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required. 
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and have the ability to obtain a valid passport.   
  • Bachelors Degree (or equivalent) and 5 + years experience in sale of solar products, PV preferred
  • Track record of sales excellence and success in Solar PV Industry
  • Working knowledge of sales and prospecting methodologies
  • Team player ready to work with a rapidly expanding group of professionals
  • Ability to assist with building an organization and infrastructure
  • Management potential and ability to grow with the expansion of the division/company
  • Desire to succeed in a competitive arena
  • Knows how to build and maintain long term relationships
  • Strong written, verbal and presentation skills
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in all MS Office products and CRM
